Wheels coming off for Medjugorje deception

The prudence of the Vatican's 2024 strategy appears to be bearing fruit. Many people (myself included) had a hard time understanding the 2024 Vatican actions regarding Medjugorje. Most of the Bishops (almost 3/4 in fact) refused to vote in support of the visions as authentically supernatural. 2/3 of the voters deemed them to be false and 6 of the 33 voters even went so far as to state them as diabolical (the correct position).

In spite of this, the Vatican, rather than an outright condemnation, decided to caution pilgrims to basically ignore the seers and the messages but otherwise go, pray, receive the Sacraments and what not.

The reason for this prudential approach was economic, not theological. Medjugorje sycophants were very adept at using secular media and the internet to promote this fraud and, in the entire history of the catholic church, no other false event had ever gotten this big.

The practical implications of immediately pulling the plug on Medjugorje would be disatrous to the former Yugoslav economy. Essentially impoverished before the events, it has become a $104 million annual cash cow for the region and the financial interests there, including the filthy rich ''seers'' themselves. This is to say nothing of the hotel chains and tour agencies linked in as well.

My feeling was that all that was outweighed by the spiritual rot of allowing this hellish scam to continue.

The Vatican decided that by sending a clear signal that the events would never be approved, the movement would decay and die gradually, thus allowing millions of people to replace that income in better ways.

There is a certain wisdom to the strategy because the visionaries have painted themselves into a corner with their constant cries of wolf. Medjugorje's brilliance has always been in the promise that something will soon happen. It never does, of course, but it's always about to. In playing the long game, the Vatican has forced the visionaries to essentially put up or shut up which, of course, they cannot do. When they start passing away, with the 10 secrets unfulfilled, the last stragglers will finally realize they have been duped.

Recent events appear to show that process being accelerated.

The recent vandalism at Medjugorje, which included spray painted graffiti of messages like "the Devil in a skirt'' was done by a former Medjugorje sycophant who actually walked 800 miles from Poland to experience the event.

He has awakened to see the truth of this deception.

Another person who has apparently woken up is David Murgia who was another fan of Medjugorje that has appeared to turn. He is the first person to release the so-called Ruini Report. Yet, here Murgia is, 9 years later, admitting that they originally ruled it false and even diabolical. The Vatican strategy of prudence seems to have been vindicated as the decay and death of Medjugorje is moving along faster than expected. God's judgement always wins and He is bringing this cult worship site to ruin.
