More than half of the artists initially announced for the "Freedom 250 Presents: The Great American State Fair" on the National Mall have withdrawn, citing that they were misled about the event's political affiliations. [1, 2]

The 16-day summer event is organized by Freedom 250, a nonprofit backed by the Trump administration. [1, 2]

Artists Who Have Dropped Out

  • Martina McBride: Stated she was presented with an opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event but the booking turned out to be misleading. [1]

  • Bret Michaels: Withdrew after realizing the event had evolved into something "much more divisive" rather than the non-political, veteran-honoring show he was promised. [1]

  • The Commodores: Released a statement saying they choose "not to publicly affiliate with any single political party". [1]

  • Young MC: Pulled out after discovering the concert was a "Trump-backed" political function. [1]

  • Morris Day & The Time: Confirmed their exit from the festival. [1]
