The return to Pennsylvania

August 1st was certainly not my 1st visit to the State of Pennsylvania, but it was the first time I can remember when I visited the state twice in less than 2 months.

In June, my stops in the Keystone state were the United 93 memorial in Shanksville and the chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua in Pittsburgh.

This single day concentrated on two spots on the more eastern side of the state.

The first destination was the Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Philadelphia.

The inside of the church was clearly modeled after the actual Shrine in Rue de Pac, Paris which I visited last fall. Though the replica certainly wasn't exact, it surely was close enough to take me back in spirit to Paris. The added blessing of fulfilling the 2nd Saturday of 5 in Our Lady's First Saturday devotions made it really special.

After Philadelphia, I drove to Reading and met T4P member Luis Ogando and his family. We celebrated Mass at the magnificent Church of Saint Peter the Apostle which is one of the biggest and oldest catholic churches in America!
