The 2nd day of the pilgrimage was indescribable

My day started at the Double Tree hotel in Dulles, Virginia. At about 4:00 AM Eastern, I went to the closest graveyard to get a Plenary Indulgence for a man named Tim who was a dear friend in life, years ago.

I came back for a good breakfast and started packing.

I took the shuttle to Dulles Airport, made it through the check points and got to the gate. I boarde the flight to Denver. I was given free internet on the plane.

College Game Day was at South Bend, Indiana for the Notre Dame game vs #1 Miami. More on that in a minute.

It was a 4-hour flight but that allowed me time to pray for the Holy Father, pray the rosary and spend 15 minutes in meditation on the mysteries. The plans started coming together for a meaningful day because those 3 things are part of the first Saturday devotion given to us at Fatima.

Flying into Denver
Flying into Denver

As I landed in Denver, Colorado officially became visited state #25. I felt like I covered about half of it just walking through the airport. Nevertheless, I wasn't in Denver long. The cool part was flying over the Rockies after leaving Denver.

I made it to Santa Fe in about 2 hours.

That's when it all started to come together.

I got to the Baillica Cathedral of Saint Francis of Assisi. What a magnificent church.

It is astounding to think of all the different churches I've gone to Mass in in the last 2 years but this one was extra special for a number of reasons.

New Mexico is state #26.

The Basilica of Saint Francis earns me the the Francis Jubilee Plenary Indulgence. That is incredible in itself but there is more.

Remember those prayers on the plane to Denver?

As a result of those prayers, I was able to finish the First Saturday Devotion for a 4th time. This one was really special. Each first Saturday Mass was in a church I had never attended Mass at before.

July- The chapel of Therese of Lisieux in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

August- The shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

September- Francis of Assisi Catholic church in Manitowoc, Wisconsin

October- Saint Matthew Cathedral in Washington, DC

November- Cathedral of Saint Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Santa Fe, New Mexico

What an incredible day. After Mass, to the hotel room to watch the game.

College game day at South Bend. Would Notre Dame preserve my perfect day?

Yes!

Notre Dame 31 Miami 24
