Mercy to the evil is a denial of justice to the innocent.

ROMANS 2:
4 Or do you despise the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience? Do you not realize that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? 5 But by your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 For he will repay according to each one’s deeds:
Bethany MaGee was minding her own business on a subway train in Chicago, when a monster with 72 priors set her on fire. If she survives, she will be traumatized for life. Who is responsible for putting Lawrence Reed back out on the street with 72 prior arrests?
There is a point at which mercy cannot be further extended and Justice has to fall. This monster had 9 Felony convictions on his record but has spent only about 2 1/2 years in prison. Some of the news reports have described Chicago's justice system as soft on crime but that is not an accurate description.
The prosecution very recently begged for this man to be kept in custody, but he was released. Releasing, Re-releasing, and re-re-releasing this monster into the public square constitutes an act of willful and criminal negligence and recklessness that should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. This type of criminal attack is just the latest example of how government is refusing to uphold his sacred duty to protect its own citizens.
There is nothing righteous or good or holy in extending endless mercy to the vicious and unrepentant at the expense of the innocent. This monster is wholly underserving of any mercy or compassion whatsoever. Anyone should be able to see that.
However, the same kind of vengeance should be given to the judge(s) who cast this pig back into society. It is time to defend the victim again.
