Knowing that I'm going makes it a little bit more real.

Many of you are familiar with the story. 107 years ago today, the miracle of the sun occurred in Fatima, Portugal. It was witnessed by 70,000 people.

Countless retinas have been damaged by people pretending that it is happening in Medjugorje, but it isn't.

Unlike Medjugorje, Fatima was no fraud. A miracle was witnessed. Real cures took place, real conversions took place.

Far from the sugary, hallmark cardish rummage that spews forth from Bosnia, Fatima held sound doctrine, prophecies that actually came to pass and a stern and sober warning for the world.

In less than 6 months, I will be there. Instead of being able to merely say "Wow, this really happened", I will be able to say "Wow, this really happened here!".

We are frail human beings and sometimes our human senses feel the need to perceive what our mind is telling us is true. In recent weeks, we celebrated at least 3 saints who were on earth in places I will visit in April. They are Saint Ignatius of Loyola, Saint Vincent DePaul and Saint Therese of Lisieux.

In just 2 days, we celebrate another- Saint Theresa of Avila.

Between now and April, many more will come into focus including Saint Catherine Laboure, Saint John of the Cross and Saint Bernadette. I will not only see the site of Our Lady's apparitions in Fatima, Portugal but in Rue De Bac and Lourdes as well.

Other highlights of the trip will include:

  • Lisbon, birthplace of Saint Anthony of Padua (Saint of impossible causes)

  • Santarem, site of a 13th century Eucharistic miracle.

  • The tombs of Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta.

  • Burial site of Saint Thomas Aquinas.

  • Burial site of Zaccheaus from the Gospels.

  • Incorrupt bodies of Saint Bernadette and Saint Catherine Laboure

  • Cathedral of Notre Dame. (The site of the horrific fire)

  • Eifel tower.

  • Normandy beach.

I am humbly grateful to God for making this trip possible. I really need this. Sometimes our faith needs a visual boost.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.
