I was greatly struck by something during today's morning offering.

I try to start each day the same way- with a pot of coffee and my morning offering starting at morningoffering.com. Today was no different in that respect.
However, today is so-called Super Bowl Sunday. In last night's homily, the deacon joked to effect that he ''trusted" that everyone was there on a Saturday evening, fulfilling the 'first Saturday devotion' rather than to get Mass out of the way so they could watch the Super bowl the next day.
Well, I for one, was there for the devotion and have no intention of watching the game. I have long since stopped watching the NFL.
However, one sick reality stuck with me as I awoke this morning. You see, the Super Bowl, it is said, is the largest annual event attracting child traffickers. Some dispute this but given the proliferation of occult and perverse themes in the halftime shows, it's not much of a reach.

That's why I was struck at the fact that our Saint of the Day, Josephine Bakhita has been given such a prominent role in combatting this. Bakhita's feast day- today- has been designated as a day of prayer to combat human trafficking.
Saint Josephine Bakhita, pray for us.
As for who will win the game? I couldn't care less.
Instead of watching those miscreants, watch the Super Bowl of podcasts instead on the 4 Persons network!
