Of course, my observations here are merely anecdotal and people can draw from them what they will.
I work the evening shift at a prestigious location that is a few blocks from the White House. To some extent, I relive American history each day driving into work. I pass in view of the Pentagon, The Washington Monument, the Capitol and White House every day.
Last night, driving down Constitution Avenue, I saw miles and miles of tractor trailers loaded with concrete barriers and the red and blue lights of capitol police blocking roads in seemingly every direction. The scene was borderline apocalyptic, like something from a disaster movie.
Last night was on Wednesday. The Inauguration is Monday.
My hope is to be as far away from DC as possible on Monday and enjoy the day off. I will not watch the Inauguration. I personally voted for Trump because of the alternative but that doesn't mean I like him. I didn't see this type of militaristic type of lockdown when Reagen replaced Carter.
The times are changing.
